Meaning of Choice in the Oracle of the Triade

Granted, the revelations of this card will lead us to major reflections, whose chosen orientations will steer the course of our destiny. Yet it remains neutral in the messages it conveys to us, meaning it is neither favourable, nor negative, and that it is the cards surrounding it during the reading that will indicate its direction. It nonetheless places every querent before cruel dilemmas that they will have to resolve, and is somewhat dreaded, for it confronts them with their responsibilities. This card therefore offers us a very unstable period, where risks will have to be taken, but where the outcome is often well worth it.

The Choice card abounds in alchemical and Masonic symbols, and in all sorts of varied geometries to decipher. Thus, a six-branched red cross resting on desert ground embodies the different choices that arise in a person’s mind. Then, a small beige square, embodying the 4 cardinal points, is found immersed within a far larger square representing the universe. Moreover, on each of the corners representing the 4 directions of a compass, the names of the winds associated with them are inscribed in old Persian. The card is linked to the astrological signs of Aries and Taurus, but also to the number 22, which in numerology symbolises duality (2) as well as the celestial cosmos (20).

During a divinatory reading, the Choice card therefore leads us to focus in order to make the best decisions available to us to move a situation forward. The consequences of these difficult choices will be favourable to us or not, all depending on the associated cards drawn alongside it during the consultation. Some of them, such as those named Desert, Lightning and Return, will be very negative for the querent.
