Meaning of Mutation in the Oracle of the Triad

This is a new neutral card in this Oracle, speaking to us of changes that are as sudden as they are necessary to bring out the very best in ourselves. It is neutral because it is highly influenced by the other cards it is paired with during a reading, even though, in the long run, it generally turns out positive for the querent. The Mutation card therefore heralds unexpected upheavals to come in their destiny, ones that will not have a strong impact in the moment but whose echo will resurface long after the events. Since Mutation is, in nature, a new birth allowing a return to life in a second skin, its transposition into the context that concerns us leads us to believe that it offers us a second chance.

The Mutation card is fairly understated, even though it is coded with alchemical symbolism borrowed from Freemasonry. Above all, it depicts a close-up spiral whose movement starts from the outside and heads toward the center within, symbolizing the spiritual return of every being toward its inner self. Lower down, an arrow with a most mythological look speaks to us of the evolution of all life which, by passing through periods of intense joy and others more painful to endure, reaches its goal as well as its purpose, represented by a white rectangle. This rectangle, as immaculate as it is empty, embodies the pause before the mutation, which sees our souls soar toward Enlightenment.

During a divinatory reading, the Mutation card is therefore a sign of sudden changes soon to come into our lives. These should unsettle us somewhat, but they appear abruptly to open our eyes and give us a second chance to react in the best possible way in managing these events that shape our destiny.
