Just like card No. 8 of the Egyptian tarot, from which it borrows its name, the Papyrus card of this Oracle is a neutral card. This means it can be positive or negative in the messages it reveals to the querent, depending on the cards it is associated with during the reading. In any case, its predictions will all be linked to handwritten or typed documents. They will therefore speak of contracts of various kinds, such as marriage contracts, employment contracts, publishing contracts, commercial agreements between two partners, but also administrative documents tied to a person’s identity, or invoices relating to the purchase of a good or an item.

As its name suggests, the Papyrus card is oriented toward the culture of ancient Egypt, as it was perceived in the time of the Pharaohs. Thus, it appears to be made of the Egyptian paper called Papyrus, which comes from the plant of the same name, two stems of which can be seen on the left-hand side. Higher up, the sheet rolled upon itself is an example of the kind of paper used by the Egyptian scribes of that era, while below it are genuine hieroglyphs symbolizing the knowledge of anyone able to read and write. Finally, near a junk gliding along the Nile, one comes across 5 vertical golden strokes meant to represent the gains amassed through trade and financial transactions with foreign lands. This card is linked to the astrological sign of Gemini, and to the number 50, which expresses any change to come in numerology.

During a divinatory reading, the Papyrus card can bring very good news, as well as less favorable news, but the querent knows that the latter will in any case be connected to documents. Personal and private documents, which hold a heavy secret, or more conventional documents related to administrative matters or to trade – these will therefore have a great deal to say to the person concerned.
