Meaning of the Trial in the Oracle of the Triad

This card cannot be considered a positive card, even though it becomes one in its outcome. Indeed, although the Trial card predicts a host of obstacles and constraints to come in the querent’s next few weeks, it assures them at the same time that if they face them with success, they will emerge stronger, and therefore inevitably grown. The querent thus has no choice: they must go through this stormy episode with courage and willpower if they want to come out with their head held high. It is their great determination in the face of adversity that will make the difference, and if it takes a little time to clear all these unforeseen obstacles, the light at the end of the tunnel is assured.

The Trial card is worthy of a riddle that is not easy to solve in its imagery. It also seems charged with a stifling atmosphere, which can give a few cold sweats to people more sensitive than others. It is divided into 3 distinct parts, all expressing a trial to overcome in order to get out of a tight spot. The first is a mental riddle, prompting us to read an inscription set within a rectangle. Very difficult to decipher, but it is indeed the word “Labyrinth”. The second physically depicts this labyrinth, whose exit will be far from easy to find. The third is the most terrifying, since it confronts us with a narrow corridor with a blood-red floor, whose walls are filled with thorns each larger than the last. Fortunately, at the end of this corridor stands a door whose light symbolizes the fulfillment, which remains of course inaccessible to those who stop along the way… This card is associated with the astrological sign Virgo, but also with the number 26, which is sacred in the Hebrew religion.

During a divinatory reading, the Trial card places the querent before a series of obstacles that are more or less difficult to overcome. This can range from a simple exam to take, to the hardship of losing one’s job or a loved one. In any case, it is a card that does not spare anyone, but whose announcements must indeed be accepted.
