Meaning of the Fertility in the Persian Tarot

As its name indicates, it is the card linked to births and to everything closely connected with bringing a child into the world. It is therefore very close to the mother, and to the warmth and protection she brings to the newborn to accompany them into our world. Since it evokes a birth, this card also speaks to us of all creation, or any new venture, whether intellectual or more artistic. Within the Indira Persian Tarot, which draws on Hindu traditions and myths to make predictions about the future for us, the Fertility card refers us not only to the mother within the family, but also to the motherland or to the Divine Mother. While the latter is more spiritual, they all share the same protective and unifying role, and all embody a symbol of security. The Fertility card indeed depicts a newly-made mother, carrying her newborn snugly in the crook of her arms, and casting a confident gaze towards the future. This image symbolises the strength that lies within each of the mothers the world over, as well as the renewal of all things, and thus the start of a new cycle.

During a divinatory reading, besides the fact that we may give birth to our child before long, the Fertility card therefore announces to us the arrival in our life of something new. Indeed, it reveals to us that we are going to set in motion a brand-new project, and that the putting in place of the latter will unfold in the most complete fullness.
