Meaning of the King of Scimitars in the Persian Tarot

The fourth card representing the King figures, this one announces that we are going to have to deal with a representative of the law in the coming weeks. A man of law, a bailiff or a police officer will come to inform us of a matter in which we might be somewhat involved. Without being harmful or negative, for it announces no dramatic situation to us, the King of Scimitars Card merely prepares us for this future confrontation. But it may also quite simply indicate to us that we know a representative of public order among our close relations, or that we are going to meet one very soon.

This King of Scimitars Card depicts a sultan seated on a chair reminiscent of the judge’s in a courtroom. The features of his face grow grave, while he holds a long sabre in his right hand, a reminder of how much he embodies rigour and authority. The Indira Persian Tarot, being more spiritual than others, owing to the oriental origins and traditions it brings to the fore, differs somewhat from other tarots and from the rules of cartomancy. Thus, here, the suit of Spades, which is called scimitars, is not necessarily negative for the querent.

During a divinatory reading, the King of Scimitars Card differs somewhat depending on whether one is a male or female querent. If you are a man, and all the more so if you are a widower or divorced, this card may represent you during this consultation. In all other cases, it will represent a loved one or a new acquaintance acting professionally in the name of the maintenance of order.
