Which book to learn cartomancy
The theme of clairvoyance, with its many and varied practices, has always caught the eye of film producers.
As a result, numerous films dealing with the subject have appeared over almost a century. But literature is not to be outdone either, and many fiction novels and autobiographical essays have been devoted to the divinatory arts and their famous practitioners.
And there are also many learning manuals where, between explanatory texts, close-up photographs and technical sketches, we can train in one of the practices of clairvoyance, the most famous of which remains cartomancy. (Find out here how to learn Cartomancy?).

The divinatory art of cartomancy
This practice of clairvoyance is the art of being able to read the future of a person through a deck of cards.
It has existed since the 15th century, when it appeared in Spain. Then it was in Italy that its offshoot called tarocchi came into being, before becoming very famous in 16th-century France under the name Tarot.
Cartomancy relies on a traditional deck of cards numbering 54, while the various tarot decks such as the Marseille tarot, the Oracle of Belline or the Rider Waite are used with cards called arcana which can vary in number and most often contain major and minor arcana.
In cartomancy and even more so in tarot reading, we deeply explore the personality of the querent in order to predict events to come in their destiny, thanks to the interpretation of the cards during a divinatory reading.

Books to take cartomancy lessons
The practices of clairvoyance, even though they have had as clients men of great talent such as Leonardo da Vinci or Sigmund Freud, are still not recognized by science for their beneficial predictions.
Yet they continue to fascinate the masses, and great researchers have often praised them for the valuable help they brought to the minds of their clients.
It will be understood that, under these conditions, there are no schools where one can learn clairvoyance, and that it is not so simple to train in one of these practices. But fortunately for the many enthusiasts who would like to discover all its secrets, there are some beautiful and very comprehensive works.
Among these, many books are devoted to cartomancy, including the following.
« Cartomancy – The art of discovering the future through cards and tarots », Clotilde De Meuze
Over the 146 pages of this beautiful paperback, the author passionately revisits everything related to cartomancy and tarot reading.
With a very didactic tone, she explains the various practices and above all what positive things they can bring to the querent‘s future life. This is how she details for us the Marseille tarot game and its many derivatives, as well as the numerous Oracles specialized in matters of love.
She also explains the meanings and various symbolism of each of the cards, emphasizing what they represent and how we should approach them in order to interpret them as best as possible. Finally, the author goes back over the practice of the many divinatory readings existing within cartomancy and especially tarot reading.
It is an indispensable book for anyone wishing to get started, all the more so as it is very easy to follow and addresses all generations.
« The great book of cartomancy and tarots – To predict the future », Suzy Nelson and Hugo Mayer
Equally perfect for getting started in divinatory readings, this 338-page paperback is a must for understanding everything about the secrets of the cards. With a perfect analysis of the different arcana contained in the tarot decks, the 2 co-authors are not stingy with detail on the many representations printed on each of them.
It is therefore with a rare and fine psychology that we explore, thanks to them, all the symbolism they contain. Equipped with simple sentences when they tackle the technical side of the multiple readings, the authors always make us want to turn the page to read the next one.
Fine work that will delight novices and learned enthusiasts alike.
« Tarot within everyone’s reach », Kamina Brochka and Charly Samson
With its 267 pages, this paperback has for more than 20 years been the reference work for anyone wishing to embark on divinatory card readings. Acclaimed by professional tarot readers such as Corinne Morel and Colette Silvestre, it goes into detail on the 22 major arcana as well as the 56 minor ones of the Marseille tarot deck, giving us plenty of elements relating to their deep symbolism and representations.
Then, in the company of the 2 co-authors, we study the different readings that are the cross spread, those with 7 and 13 cards, the astrological wheel and the first-name reading to name but a few, for there are many others still.
Finally, this beautiful book with all-color illustrations ends on a chapter that tells us about the affiliations between astrology, numerology and tarots.
It is therefore an excellent basic manual for learning the meanings of each of the arcana and for practicing solo at handling them.
Practical reading as a complement to tutorials
There are plenty of videos covering card readings posted on YouTube and social media. They are generally of good quality, and the tarot readers and cartomancers who publish them are often well known. So you can look into them without fear and even learn a great deal about the practice of a divinatory reading.
However, these tutorial videos will never replace reading a good specialized book on the subject; they will only be its essential complement.
