Cards of the Oracle of Belline

The Oracle of Belline is one of the very first divinatory decks ever created, yet it remains one of the most renowned to this day. While it was indeed the clairvoyant Belline who brought it to market in the 1960s, its creation goes back to Jules Charles Ernest Billaudot, better known to the public of his time under the name of the mage Edmond. Passionate about esotericism and a great admirer of the Tarot of Marseille, he spent more than 20 long years crafting a new deck of divinatory cards whose many symbols draw inspiration from the famous Tarot of Marseille, but also from Etteilla’s 1st deck, from astrology and from spirituality. Sadly, his creation ended up at the bottom of a trunk, where it lay for nearly 100 years, before Belline discovered it by chance and decided to market it under his own name…

Today, the Oracle of Belline is therefore still just as widely used to foretell a querent’s future, but also to help them move forward as well as possible along their personal path. This is thanks to its 53 cards, all filled with powerful imagery bearing the most singular meanings for those who know how to read them.

  • 3 – The Star of Woman : Unlike the previous card, this one places us before everything related to the feminine spirit. It thus brings to mind the mother, the sister or a close friend, and evokes the serenity and the power of deduction that are characteristic of women.
  • 4 – The Nativity : This is the card that heralds every new beginning. It therefore evokes a new project, which will soon allow the querent to live new adventures. It also carries great self-confidence, in love as in work.

  • 10 – Gifts : This card evokes generosity between people, and the joy of offering a present to someone we cherish. It is also a card that may herald a lottery win, for example !
  • 11 – Betrayal : when this one appears during a reading, it means we will have to beware of someone, that we may have a doubt about one of our relationships. Indeed, it always evokes an underhand blow to come, or quite simply a lie told against us.
  • 12 – Departure : In no way negative, this card on the contrary evokes a new horizon, a new beginning on our journey. And that in every possible area, such as work or love for instance.
  • 13 – Inconstancy : This is unfortunately the card of doubt and indecision, which can happen to any of us at moments when we least expected it. There then follows a rather uneasy period during which we also fret over nothing.
  • 14 – Discovery : This is the card of curiosity, but also of lucidity and awakening for all those who have a minimum of interest in the new things that open up to their mind. It is also the card that evokes the intuition that some people possess.

  • 18 – Change : This is the card of any transformation within our life. A change of job, a move of home or a change of partner in a romantic relationship.

  • 30 – The Table : This is the card of conviviality, the one that announces moments shared between friends or colleagues, certainly around a good meal, but not only that, since it also speaks to us of outings together.
  • 31 – Passions : While it is obviously the card that evokes love at first sight between 2 people, it is just as much the card of jealousy and of the suffering of love. Beware, then, of this double meaning when it appears in a reading.
  • 32 – Malice : This is the card that evokes aggression and treachery toward us. We will therefore have to stay on our guard and be more wary of people we do not know well enough.
  • 33 – Lawsuit :  Where there is a lawsuit there are quarrels at the root, and ill intentions on the part of one person toward another. In any case, there will be conflict and a certain dispute will set in between them, which may end in a real lawsuit to settle matters between them.

  • 37 – Fire : Courage and the will to overcome are what this card brings us if we come across it in a reading. Determination too, to achieve our ends during heated exchanges with others.
  • 38 – Accident : there is going to be an upheaval in our life, a shock that will come to destabilise us and lay us bare in the face of a crisis situation. A breakup is also possible within friendly or romantic relationships.
  • 39 – Support : Help and protection from a loved one are announced to us by this card, which gives us back a little hope after we had been feeling so alone lately.
  • 40 – Beauty : a more than positive card since it evokes nothing but wonder and joy within a happiness shared between 2 individuals, or between 1 person and nature.
  • 41 – Inheritance : This is therefore the card that embodies transmission between 2 people of the same family, or the learning of a young person listening to a mentor or an elderly parent. It is also the card of knowledge acquired over time.
  • 42 – Wisdom : This card announces a good balance to come on the querent’s path. Thanks to a great deal of serenity displayed, but also a well-developed intuitive mind.
  • 43 – Renown : this is the card of self-realisation, and of a certain personal accomplishment that is at last acknowledged by our peers. Recognition and future fame are therefore to be expected for the events to come in our life.
  • 44 – Chance : This is the card of all the possible surprises that may arise on our path. It is also the possible arrival of providential help we were not expecting.
  • 45 – Happiness : Pleasures and harmonies are therefore on the agenda, this most positive of cards tells us. We are thus entitled to a very fortunate period, and we should make the most of it.
  • 46 – Misfortune : This is the card of bad luck and ill fortune. Very negative, then, it announces nothing but sadness and unhappiness to come in the querent’s life.
  • 47 – Sterility : This is a card with a double meaning since it evokes a pause that may be useful to us in better reflecting on a deadlocked situation, but also a loneliness of greater or lesser length over time.
  • 48 – Fatality : This is the card of mourning, of breakup, and of the end of a cycle.
  • 49 – Grace : This almost magical card evokes the inspiration that animates us during this very fortunate period. The time has therefore come for us for awakening and for the most complete fulfilment.
  • 50 – Ruin : This card unfortunately evokes failure and destruction. It speaks to us only of human losses and financial ruin when it appears in a reading.
  • 51 – Delay : This is the card that embodies all the obstacles soon to come on our life’s path, with which we will have to struggle in order to better counter them.
  • 52 – Cloister : This is the card of meditative wisdom, which, while necessary to us at certain moments of our life, can also be more burdensome to us at others.
  • The Blue Card : This is the only neutral and unnumbered card of this Oracle, but it is very positive, bringing luck and happiness to the querent. Note too that it weakens the negativity of certain other cards when they are drawn together. A real godsend, then !
