As one might suspect, with Temptation being closely tied to the original sin of Christianity, the card bearing its name is negative for the querent. It indeed warns them that he or she is in disarray, completely overwhelmed by events or situations that have trapped them. The person concerned by the reading will therefore find themselves cornered in a dead end, into which they will have sunk themselves through pride and the temptation of vice, and from which it will be difficult to escape. In this case, there is no reference to Greek mythology in the depiction of the Temptation card. Nor even to the secret codes used in Freemasonry. Just a reminder of the original sin of the Judeo-Christian religion, symbolised by the face of a young man with gaunt features, surrounded by a serpent as diabolical as it is treacherous, and by an apple containing the poison of Temptation. Associated with the number 11, which is that of doubling and duality in numerology, the Temptation card also embodies the astrological signs of Scorpio and Sagittarius.
During a divinatory reading, the Temptation card confronts us with our unspoken desires. It indeed reveals to the querent a coming period that will be strange, unstable and unbalanced, in which they will have to make choices, but in which they will not opt for the wisest of directions. By fleeing their responsibilities, the querent will therefore put their life in danger, driven solely by the instinct of desire.
