32-card and 52-card cartomancy meaning

The practice of divination using playing cards is generally carried out with the cards of a tarot deck, or with those of an Oracle, under the term tarology. But some people who are passionate about the subject prefer the classic deck of cards to perform divinatory readings. In that case, we use the term cartomancy. It is therefore with the very same 52 cards we play with from our earliest age at games like war, belote or solitaire, that one can predict the future for a querent. For they too hold strong meanings and symbolism, just like the cards of an oracle or a tarot deck.

Understanding what the cards of a classic deck have to say

As we know, a classic deck of cards is made up of 4 suits of 13 cards each. These run from the Ace, which holds a very high value, through the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, which are minor, then the 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen and King, which each carry major values. The 52 cards in the deck are also divided into 2 colour groups according to the suit they belong to : red for the Hearts and Diamonds suits, and black for the Clubs and Spades suits. Moreover, each of these 4 suits addresses a theme of its own during a reading. Thus, the Hearts suit is mainly linked to feelings, the Clubs suit is associated with gains and finances, the Spades suit evokes the arrival of serious and painful events, while the Diamonds suit tells us more about work and professional predictions. Once these basic rules are understood, one can therefore begin to break down each of these 52 playing cards.

Meaning of a 32-card deck in cartomancy

In cartomancy, the cards of the 32-card deck are exactly the same as those of the 52-card deck. Only the suits of the 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 are missing from this deck, which is therefore made up of a larger proportion of court cards.

The meaning of the 52 cards in cartomancy

Ace of Clubs

It announces total success on a financial level. It is the guarantee of a triumph to come, and that the investments made in the past will finally pay off. It is therefore the card of success in business.

King of Clubs

This card is just as favourable to the querent, announcing financial help granted by a male figure. It may be a father, brother, friend, lover or a business partner.

Queen of Clubs

This is again a very positive card, which announces to the querent financial support coming from a female figure. It may be a mother, a sister, a friend, a lover, or a female business partner.

Jack of Clubs

This card reveals a friendly or romantic relationship between the querent and a young man. This relationship may be superficial or lead to a more serious union, but it will in any case unfold in joy and harmony.

10 of Clubs

This card is the assurance of an upcoming financial advantage in the querent’s destiny. It speaks of transactions that will eventually succeed, though it is always preferable that it not be surrounded by Spades cards during the reading.

9 of Clubs

This card is closely linked to our professional activity, and indicates some changes to come. But it is the cards surrounding it during the reading that will tell whether these changes will be positive or more negative.

8 of Clubs

This card speaks of a relationship with a young woman, which could be romantic, friendly or professional. Should it come out surrounded by Spades cards, it would then announce a break-up, the end of a partnership.

7 of Clubs

This card evokes the business matters occupying our mind. It speaks of financial advantages to come if it appears alongside Hearts or Diamonds cards. With Spades cards, the opposite will unfortunately happen.

6 of Clubs

Without being truly negative, this card nonetheless announces an obstacle to come in our destiny. This financial concern may still be resolved swiftly if the card is not surrounded by Spades during the reading.

5 of Clubs

Investment and the development of our professional activities are on the agenda, this card tells us, while ensuring a clear increase in our income, especially if it happens to sit beside a Diamonds card during the reading.

4 of Clubs

Beware, for this card always announces a certain betrayal to come from a loved one who is after our finances. A relative, a friend, a more intimate relation that we will need to be wary of.

A positive evolution is anticipated thanks to the help that loved ones offer us so that a blocked situation does not stagnate for too long. A good card therefore, all the more so if it sits beside Diamonds or Hearts during the reading.

2 of Clubs

King of Spades

He represents a rather mature and solitary man who could in certain cases be favourable to us in a difficult moment to come. He may be a father, a brother, a friend, a lover, or a business partner.

Queen of Spades

4 of Spades

It is the card of isolation. The one that makes us understand that we must therefore face ourselves in order to reflect as well as possible and thus find the best possible solutions for what comes next.

King of Diamonds

This is the appearance of a rather authoritarian man who comes to disturb the querent’s life. Not necessarily for the worse, but that will depend only on the other cards surrounding it during the reading.

Queen of Diamonds

It is of a lonely Lady, because rather unpleasant to be around, that this card speaks, and who will come to upset the querent’s habits by meddling in their private life. It is therefore not a very positive card…
