This card depicts an old man with a white beard, simply dressed in gaiters and a cape. On his back, powerful wings rise toward the interplanetary cosmos and remind us that this somewhat world-weary and solitary old man embodies the archangel Raziel, who is said to reveal the secrets of God.
In his left hand, we find a wooden staff, which is the sign of ultimate wisdom, and in his right he holds a lantern of fire, symbolizing the light of the sun, without which life on earth would be impossible. He seems to walk on the outskirts of a dark medieval city, but his mind is well and truly high up in the sky, mingling with the celestial universes, nebulae and other planets of our solar system. In a divinatory reading, this card helps us discover who we really are, guiding the dreamer through a mystical quest to better understand the meaning of life.
