Here is the misfortune card of this tarot that is nevertheless so optimistic. It represents the evil that will spread over our lives for a longer or shorter time and that we will have to endure, whatever the cost. It is the encounter that the character of the Fool would have preferred not to have during his spiritual journey, but the Thunderbolt imposes itself on all those who claim to feed on their achievements and on new experiences during an initiatory path. However hard we try to avoid it, we have no chance of escaping it. In spite of everything, it lets us know that this passage, which resembles an inner earthquake and is so hard to live through, is more than necessary in order to feel stronger in the face of any disaster.

The Thunderbolt card speaks for itself. Indeed, it shows a tower in flames, on the point of collapsing, from which a woman and a man are throwing themselves into the void, with little hope of survival. High in the sky where the thunder rumbles, flashes of lightning light up this scene laden with darkness. In the background, one can make out a shadow in a state of meditation which takes up the whole surface of the card and which symbolises our consciousness.

In a divinatory reading, this is the card you have to hope not to draw, because it will announce nothing but the arrival of a misfortune. With no other choice, we will have to face up to it, in order to come out of it stronger.
