The blacksmith is a mythical figure among the Gypsies, because he embodies freedom of thought while shaping objects of great usefulness such as tools, weapons and blades, with the help of the 4 key natural elements : Fire, Air, Earth and Water. He also embodies strength and determination in success, and reveals someone who is highly skilled with their hands as much as with their mind.

So we find ourselves facing a Gypsy of aristocratic appearance, since his mid-length brown hair is crowned with a diadem, and his clothes, although very colourful, are embroidered with golden thread. But the man we are dealing with is a free man, one who depends on no kingdom, as attested by the wide ring he wears proudly on his left earlobe.
His right hand rests on a thick metal shield, decorated with the tools he uses to practise his trade as a blacksmith, namely the crucible for melting, the hammer for shaping, and the anvil for giving form. In his other hand he proudly holds up a sceptre representing the 4 natural elements, settled comfortably, seated on a carved wooden throne. From this image emanates extreme wisdom, but also authority as well as human warmth.
