Very close to the Hermit card of the Marseille tarot, this one likewise evokes the forsaking of others in order to satisfy a certain thirst for knowledge. And so, since time immemorial, many Gypsy « priests » leave their clan for a while, in order to travel alone towards some unusual place.
This retreat will allow them to share their alchemical secrets with other Gypsy brethren. These celebrations usually take place away from prying eyes, in secret caves, where, between sacred rites and esoteric mysticism, these men of science, gifted in observing the stars, in divination, magic, herbalism, lithotherapy and alternative medicine, share among themselves all the secrets of the scholars of ancient times.

The card shows us a man of a certain age, since he wears a beard and greying hair. This old man, whose gaze is as wise as it is seasoned, walks slowly through nature, leaving behind him the sun and the moon to take turns replacing one another.
He looks as though he no longer worries about anything, and seems to carry on with his quest without anything truly surprising him any more. His red, green and blue garments make him look like a somewhat eccentric monk, but one senses in him a freedom of spirit, and a heightened awareness of existence, as well as the renunciation of all material goods that is typical of men of Faith.
In his right hand, he firmly holds the amphora of alchemy, lofty embodiment of the universe, and in his left, the caduceus of Asclepius, symbol of all medicine, which serves as a staff to guide him towards new knowledge.

This card reveals to you that there is still going to be some waiting and that you must therefore show yourself to be patient. Whether you are attached to, or have dealings with the medical, scientific, political or bureaucratic world, it asks you to remain cautious while awaiting the conclusions that are taking so long to come.
You must also show absolute discretion with strangers and great diplomacy with your loved ones and your various partners, so as to make them understand where the situation stands. On a more personal and therefore private level, you might well receive an inheritance once this situation has definitively come to an end.
On the emotional side, this is not the time to make major decisions. Future plans can thus be discussed with your partner, but they cannot lead to promises, which you will have to put off until later.

Loneliness might well be lying in wait for you, and you may find yourself cast aside by your relations, disappointed by your behaviour, and this on the professional as much as on the emotional level.
