Here then is the very first card of the Gypsy tarot, one of the most renowned there is, after the famous Tarot of Marseille. The card shows the Zahori standing before a table where he seems to be carrying out his main activity as a medium. He is a young man with brown, mid-length hair and effeminate facial features. He wears a gold winged helmet which, through its shine, links him to the sun, the moon and the celestial universe as a whole.

Dressed in the most colourful clothes, we can see that he is barefoot, but that his heels are fitted with little green wings, a powerful symbol of freedom. On the table where he works stands a celestial globe, while in his hands he holds a compass and a set square, all he needs to study the astral strategies so dear to the divinatory art.
